Behind every story is a life that was positively impacted by one of our programs. Here are some examples of people in our community that have a thing or two to say about their new outlook on life.
I feel that the staff members are very special to me because in times like this, they all take part in playing a role towards helping me. I would also like to thank them for having patience with me throughout the facility. Day by day you are important to us, you all make us feel that it’s another chance at life. Love all you guys!
I really appreciate the staff at South County. Everyone made me feel welcomed and gave me words of encouragement when I was happy and sad. It really meant a lot to me. Thank you all very much!
Thank you so very much for taking care of me the whole time I was here. I could not have asked for better treatment.
Thank You !!!.
I became sick 5 years ago. I went to a lot of places between here and Las Vegas. I was in the state hospital there then came here to Florida. I was sent to South County Mental Health Center, I did all the programs I could, and then I moved in. At first I kept going to programs then I was on a good medicine plan and stopped hearing the voices. I got a T.E. (Transitional Employment) job, it gave me something to do and something to strive for again. I worked hard at it, so much so that I quit going to programs and only worked on the grounds. Eventually I got into a program, Vocational rehab, and I got a job out into the community. I lived at South County for 4 years. It helped me get my life back. I now live outside South County, still on medicine to keep me level, still working and everything is going so well for me. Couldn’t have done it without South County and everyone there.
I lived at SCMHC for 2 years and in that amount of time learned a tremendous amount whether it be from my case managers to my long time and awesome therapist to the staff members. The only thing I will never forget is, we have to teach ourselves to change our reaction to our anxiety. We have to learn to accept it. We have to feel it in order to change it. We have to be vulnerable and feel uncomfortable in order to change it and our mentality. Most importantly you have to want to change. Change is only scary if you let it be. Change is a process and it takes time.
When I moved to SCMHC I cried every day, all day! I had a panic attack numerous times a day and could not function in everyday life and activities and events. Now after living at SCMHC and utilizing all my tools I am back to the daily grind and back to teaching full time.
I will never forget all I have learned from SCMHC and I will never regret the path I took to get where I am today!
I can’t say enough about how grateful I am with SCMHC’s entire staff. After my crisis, they took me in and helped me regain my confidence. I now work full time at a local hardware store and lead a happy life!
